1) Julius Peppers in Green Bay
He’s not a rookie anymore but at $8.5 million for a year, it’s a value for a guy that can help last year’s 25th ranked defense that allowed almost 27 ppg last year.
2) Jarius Byrd down in New Orleans
They paid him a heap load of money but that tends to happen in the pro sports.
But under def.coordinator Rob Ryan, who clearly showed it wasn’t all his fault in Dallas when he did what he did in New Orleans last year, Byrd along with Kenny Vaccaro should be a nasty duo of defensive backs.
Should also be a lot of fun to see a much improved defense under Ryan in year 2 of his scheme.
3) The Broncos reload.
For anybody who thought last year was the last great run of Peyton Manning, check again.
They went out and added TJ Ward, got Aqib Talib in the defensive backfield, and brought in DeMarcus Ware, who like Peppers is no spring chicken but has something left and will be a good compliment to add along with Von Miller (who will hopefully play an entire season)
4) Golden Tate to the Lions
Newsflash: The Lions have Calvin Johnson. He attracts attention.
Golden Tate knew this and he not only got paid but got into a great situation where he will get his throws and if he can stay healthy(already with a shoulder injury in the spring) he will cash in off the attraction to Johnson.
I also think Jim Caldwell will be a big help to Matt Stafford and that’s helps the case.
5) Darrell Revis in New England on a 1 year deal.
First of all a nice get for Bill Bellichick and real nice to get him under a 1 year deal.
Revis still wants to prove he’s the best while other DB’s are getting all this love and he wants to show he can bounce back better a year removed from ACL Surgery.
If solid, Bellichick has a nice toy to get creative with on the 27th ranked defense that was middle of the pack against the pass and 30th against the run.
Other names to note: Jared Veldheer in Arizona-Veldheer spent his first four NFL seasons with the Oakland Raiders and quickly developed into one of the league's up-and-coming stalwarts at left tackle. Could be a big addition in Arizona protecting Carson Palmer.
